At home in England, I can only watch S4C via Clic.
However, at the holiday cottage we were renting in N.Wales over the weekend, there was a Freeview-enabled TV, so of course I tuned in.
I noticed that on Pobol Y Cwm, there were English subtitles, but I could not find a way of switching them off, or changing them to Welsh ones, as one can on Clic.
Is that the norm for Freeview, or is there a trick that I missed?
I tried the coloured buttons, but they didn’t do anything.
PyC is broadcast twice a day. Once at 6:30pm (previous day’s episode) with English subtitles indelibly on-screen, once at 8:00pm (first broadcast) without.
I’ve only recently started with the Cymraeg. I definitely prefer the subtitles in English at the moment !
There is a lot of inconsistency: I’ve been following the 2014 series of cariad@iaith. A bit too zany - nowhere near enough time spent in ddosbarth ! The episodes on Clic were just the 20 minute excerpts (with subtitles) but the full-length IMPORTANT stuff spent in the classroom is only available on YouTube and has no subtitle info. Sigh… S4C/BBC don’t make it easy for Welsh learners. Hwyl…
