Ive just spent a bit of time surfing the radio waves (internet ones). I’ve come up with this as welsh language available on the internet; have I missed anything?
Radio Cymru
Radio Cymru 2 (Early AM)
Radio Beca
Swansea Sound (Welsh language some evenings)
Capital Cymru is a good one. Aimed at the younger listener, it has welsh shows at breakfast and from 13:00-19:00 weekdays, with a varience at weekends. Môn FM, from Anglesey, is also a good one. Very varied output and is about 50/50 English and Welsh
Cymru FM
However, there’s only music.
If you search for all suggested on TuneIn, you’ll have all at one spot, give them into yuur favourites and you’d never search for them again.
Making TuneIn profile is easy and free and you have numbers of radio stations available, practically every single one which is on the net.
Champion FM also has a Welsh/English split.
Champion FM sounds like it should be coming from the heart of Newcastle.
Ha ha. I used to deliver a freebee newspaper up there that went by the name of The Champion. I think Tsampion is very N Walian though.
“champion” was a favourite expression of my grandad, several of my uncles, and some of my older cousins in the north-west (south Cumbria, formerly north Lancs), but is also supposed to be a stereotypically Yorkshire saying (like ey oop!).
I hear Tsampion a lot on Rownd a Rownd (made in Menai Bridge), and I’d assumed it was an import from NW England.
Edit: another northern English expression that you don’t really hear in the south is “[a real] bobby dazzler” (for something really impressive). Don’t know if that ever took off in Wales.
Sorry to bring up an old topic, but the nice folk at Capital Cymru have in the past few days brought in more welsh language programming - full details at : https://radiotoday.co.uk/2019/05/extra-welsh-programmes-and-presenters-for-capital-cymru/
I wonder if this means we can now call BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio Cymru 2 and Capital Cymru full time Cymraeg radio stations now?
