Bore da!

It’s a stunningly beautiful day here and spring is in full force. The Cuckoo is back, in fact more than one! Most of the trees are now full of leaf and the Laburnum is beginning to flower. The lambs are out on the common with their mothers and the whole place feels like it’s bursting with life. I’ve finished another chapter of my novel and feel like I’m now on the last lap.

1) Something I would never consider doing all by myself is…

Um. I think that pretty much anything I’d be willing to do, I’d be willing to do by myself. On those gloriously rare occasions when I’m not snowed under by children…

2) It really upsets me when I hear people…

putting themselves down.

3) I have a terrible habit of…

Bulk-eating grapes.

4) You would be really surprised to hear I like…

I’m afraid all the things I like seem completely reasonable to me. I can’t imagine anyone being surprised by any of them.

5) I have to admit to having once…

Stolen one of my own children’s ice-creams.

6) Aran, would you like everyone to follow @TyddynPorffor on Twitter and re-tweet Welsh tweets with an @TyddynPorffor tag?

Why, yes, I would! Thank you for asking…

    My biggest disappointment …
, was realising at the age of 30 that I probably wasn’t going to get a Nobel Prize (an ambition apparently shared by POTUS )

1) Something I would never consider doing all by myself is…

Give a dinner party. (Not sure I’d do it with anyone else, to be honest).

Shout at their children in public.

Procrastinating about clearing up clutter.

Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with string
These are a few of my favourite things…”

1) Something I would never consider doing all by myself is…

Travelling. I’ve spent time in cities on my own. I can survive about a day and then just feel “This would be so much better with someone else”

2) It really upsets me when I hear people…

Tell people to “man up” or “grow a pair”. As a man, I feel like a fraud when someone implies we’re the stronger sex.

3) I have a terrible habit of…

Needing to be right. I’m beating this, and getting better at avoiding debates but I’m still far from conquering it.

4) You would be really surprised to hear I like…

The film, “The Proposal”

5) I have to admit to having once…

Oh, where to start…

This week’s bonus question is all down to you…

6) Make up your own Friday Five question and answer it

I’m not a fan of regrets. If you could change one thing about your past what would it be?

I would never have tried a cigarette. Had a bad habit of trying them as a teenager and then when you could smoke in pubs. It never became a true habit, thankfully!, but it’s an experience that hasn’t enriched my life.

1) Something I would never consider doing all by myself is…
Eating in a restaurant (again). I’ve done it once and it was really depressing. It was in a Nando’s in Cardiff the night before filming “llyncu geiriau” and I was shoved upstairs, out of the way with two other singles. Worst of all, I was sat on a big table suitable for a party of 8! So sad.

2) It really upsets me when I hear people…
Saying hateful things about others. I’ve been guilty of it myself but I really do try to see the good in people.

3) I have a terrible habit of…
Pushing people away. I’ve alienated some truly amazing friends and to this day I don’t know what I did or said. The problem is that it always plays on my mind.

Well, the first 3 have been rather depressing. :joy:

4) You would be really surprised to hear I like…
Watching American football and baseball. Not really an odd thing but can’t stand watching most other sports.

5) I have to admit to having once…
Inadvertently stealing about £50’s worth of door furniture.

This week’s bonus question is all down to you…

  1. Make up your own Friday Five question and answer it Who is your favourite Batman?
    Michael Keaton obviously.

Can you tell I couldn’t think of anything here?

The film, “The Proposal”

Sandra Bullock is like Marmite - some people love it and sone people hate it. I love them both and enjoyed the film, too.

1) Something I would never consider doing all by myself is…
Flying. But then I’ve only ever flown twice, and prefer to avoid it altogether if I possibly can.

2) It really upsets me when I hear people…
Slagging off Wales, the Welsh, and the Welsh language. As Jan Morris says, it’s the last permitted bigotry:

3) I have a terrible habit of…
Following an argument through to the point where other people have lost interest.

4) You would be really surprised to hear I like…
Old-style comedy like Benny Hill. Most folks who know me think of me as fairly serious, and would probably be surprised by this.

5) I have to admit to having once…
Attended a Whitesnake gig and then a Barbara Dickson concert all in the same fortnight.

6) Make up your own Friday Five question and answer it.
Is there an interest you’ve discovered relatively late in life?
Gardening - but I wish I was better at it.

I agree, I like one but not the other. This speech tackles this, and her ability to cope, really well.
