Helo Nigel it was really good to meet you in Abingdon today and great that so many of the group were able to make it. Some people would be free to meet again next Tuesday ( March 5) at 1.00 pm. Would you be able to join us? Bethan

Helo Bethan,
It was great to meet you and @Anne-PJ , @chris-roberts , @johnwilliams_6 and Sue. Quite hard on the brain but actually talking and Welsh to a group of people in Abingdon is amazing!! I’m away skiing next week so unfortunately can’t make the 5th, but I’d love to join you again soon, maybe the following Tuesday, 12th March? Diolch a cofion gorau, Nigel

As mentioned at the meet up in Abingdon yesterday, the wonderful Adwaith from Carmarthen / Caerfyrddin are playing the Jericho Tavern 2nd April https://www.wegottickets.com/event/608100.

Very nice to meet you at the Tues sgwrs, Nigel; I. look forward to another Abingdon meet-up.
In the meantime, and in reply to Bethan’s message, I can’t manage next Tues, 5th, but can do the 12th. No inspiration yet about a venue!

It was great meeting @nigel-marsh and everyone on Tuesday. Unfortunately I can’t manage 5th or 12th, and probably not 19th, but maybe 26th.

I’m planning on going to see Adwaith (but secretly still hoping the guy from Divine Schism can get Chroma or Parisa Fouladi to come to Oxford)…

Both new to me, thank you very much!

All depends on taste… Chroma are a fairly post-punk trio with quite a raw, rough sound; Parisa Fouladi is a very cool, smoky back room, soul kind of vibe. Very different from each other, but I happen to like them both.

Gutted, I’ve already booked to see the cut-down Canterbury Tales in St Mary Mag’s that night!

For anyone thinking of coming to the St David’s Day service at Jesus tonight, the Chaplain has confirmed the time as 5.30 p.m. (earlier than previously advertised) - details as follows:

Tomorrow evening, Friday March 1st, at 17.30 , we have our annual Welsh language service of Evensong in Chapel. This service is conducted entirely in Welsh, led by Old Member of Jesus College Canon Jeffrey Gainer, with a sermon (in English/yn Saesneg!) by the Right Reverend Wyn Evans, Bishop of St. David’s from 2008-2016. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear our fabulous choir, as well as to enjoy the beautiful Welsh language.

Just to clarify - no indication of anyone other than Adwaith coming to Rhydychen at the moment - I put a word in about the others after the Cerys Hafana gig, and I’m just keeping an eye on his Facebook feed in hope. (But if ā€œguttedā€ was just wrt Adwaith, then (i) I sympathise, and (ii) I’ll shut up about the others. For now.)

Thanks for the recommendations Richard. Chroma are more my thing but I’m not sure about the cover art!

Re the Abingdon meet up, I can also do the 12th. I wondered about Peachcroft farm cafĆ© as there’s some sort of a shed there with some bigger tables, but it’s maybe not used in the winter & the location is less accessible by bus. It was good to see so many of us on Tuesday - I’d been vaguely wondering about an Abingdon meet up for a while but it took Nigel’s message to spur us into action.
