Can anyone help explain on and off to me please.
The photocopier is on = mae’r llungopïwr ymlaen
To me this says the photocopier is forward.
The photocopier is off = mae’r llungopïwr i ffwrdd
To me this means the photocopier is away.

‘forward’ and ‘away’ are just two of the meanings of ymlaen and i ffwrdd - they are indeed the ways to say ‘on’ and ‘off’ in this context, and it’s all about context!
I didn’t know this, interesting!
When I started learning Welsh a native speaker at work told me half of Welsh is context. That does seem to be true.
