I can’t find the thread now, but I remember a little while back in this lovely forum of interesting and interested people there was a bit of discussion about the origin of Lloegr England.

Well, look what I came across as I was sitting with my americano in Costa this morning perusing (as you do) Tolkien & Gordon’s edition for Oxford of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight :

(Whether we can believe Geoffrey, of course, is another matter. I think he sometimes made things up… :confused: )

Yes, I would tend to agree although since I, too, am “of Monmouth”, I prefer to think of it as him using (lots of) poetic licence! :wink:
