I have tried to listen to all the listening exercises in the initial challenge series but all I get is a ‘chipmonk-like’ sound: the speech is ultra-fast and indecipherable. Can anyone tell me whether they have experienced the same thing and whether there is a way of slowing down the file please?
It’s supposed to be like that Maggie, the ‘chipmonks’ are infamous!. The idea is not to try and translate or understand it, but to let your ears become accustomed to hearing it at that speed. That way, when you hear something at normal speed it sounds even slower. It’s like when you drive at 70mph for a while and then slow down to 30mph - the 30mph then feels much slower than it is.
