Today I am not able yo access courses on the "saysomethingnin"Ap. Several attempts to do so are met with “Poor Connection, course material or progress records could not be downloaded”.
I’ve tried restartjng my phone, re-installing the Ap, cleaning my phone without success. All other functions on my phoned are working normally.
What else can I do? 'Id be grateful for your .help
Ok, this pop up is meant to trap a situation where if the App pressed on, it would not have a correct progress record because it has repeatedly failed to load it. ( Also if loading course material has repeatedly failed.)
…are you using mobile WiFi / is there any other context info that might help? We can have a quick at your account.
I’ve just had the same problem on my iPad with North Welsh. It failed several times with the poor connection message before finally working, but even then it took a long time to load. Both Italian and Spanish loaded successfully but only after again taking a long time to load. It worked OK last time I used it yesterday (or possibly the day before).
The new App prompts a bit of a crunch on the server as it starts, as it works out some historical gaps that have been left behind stretching right back to the prototype Automagic.
It’s a task which has fallen a little unfairly on the shoulders of this App release () but is a once-its-done-its-done type of thing. The App will then proceed to tidy up the list gradually over a period so our records will all move to being neat and tidy.
Depending how much progress has been made, this has proven to be quite a chunky task…and in fact seems to have tripped a time-out. This has caused the pop ups in App - whuch feels it didn’t get a reply from the server - sorry about that.
We have set up a copy of the live server today and have been testing what we believe is a quite straightforward solution by making a change on the server - we will know tomorrow.
It is people with larger amounts of progress that are affected.
The Web App is a means of working around this in the short term if you experience this issue.
Thank you Rich for your message and interest and efforts yo solve my problem I’ve tried accessing Italian through the wrb instead of the App.and git as far as waiting for the course to load. I waited a very long time but it didn’t load. All I saw was “please wait” and a circle turning. Each time I tried. But it wasn’t the “Poor connection retry” message. I trued the Ap again and reached the same stage on the process.
So something has changed but I am still not able to access Italian. Sorry to be such a pain. If all else fails could I start again using another email address.I’m guessing that it would mean starting my three language from scratch but the “revision” might not be a bad thing. I really enjoy using this way of learning.
Actually, not a pain at all - in fact just the opposite…We have found this problem and fixed it…it is being tested now.
It is the same problem a small number of people (thankfully) have had - all with a large progress record - although the fix will benefit performance in general. So there will be an update to the App soon.
