But the first Welshman to the moon, as any Welsh person with the album “Max Boyce live in Treorchy” (ie, all Welsh people, whether they admit it or not ) * (note) knows was, of course, Morgan the Moon.
Note- * a copy of “Live at Treorchy” has been possessed at some point by every Welsh person in existence, whether they are able to lay their hands on it at this moment in time or not. A copy of the album, along with “Grand Slam”, was placed in “Teithiwr”, the first Welsh satelite to leave the solar system.
Are you lot planning an open session any time soon? I could do with a bit of light relief, don’t know if I’d able to contribute to the masterpiece…
Only problem is the only time I can reliably make it is Thursdays and Fridays during school time. Evenings are sometimes poss but it’s more hit and miss. Any takers by any chance?
The session is always open one if you ask me … Well, @ramblingjohn is the one who has set the group chat on skype. It’s usually once a month sometime at the beginning of it but unfortunately it’s (it was until now) only at the evenings. It more depended on when John had the time to run the session and the rest adapted and together we negotiated the time. But … gee! I’d love to see you there. It’s not neccessarely the “Eddie the Eagle” “masterpice” we’re on at the moment but we chat various of things and we never know where the course of action would bring us. We all contribute no matter how much or little we talk. I have to confess I’ve “pushed” @Y_Ddraig_Las to talk a bit more (hehe) as he was the newest “member” of the chat group (apart from @Brigitte who’s used to talk as we usually have quite long sessions twice a week) and I didn’t want he would (might) feel excluded if not talking enough. It was fun and i hope it was fun for all of us not just me.
There’s no particular level you should be on regarding speaking … we all learn anyway and to be honest, I say many things wrong and maybe sometimes ununderstandably but when people are silent then I know this is it so I try to put things different (maybe more understandable) way.
Oh, and don’t get the wrong impression that I act as the leader of the conversation (even if it might seam so) … I just try to push it further when there’s a gap of silence and we all know how not quite pleasant that might be.
So, welcome aboard when time is to be negoitated. Maybe we can figure something out regarding your “only problem” too.
First @netmouse of course we would be pleased to have your company, i sense you are better than me at general conversation so that is to my benefit (diolch).
I will PM you my skype name just send me a request on skype and i will respond.
Five took part last time and it was really great, we could have a problem if numbers got to large, but as not everyone can make every session it could be an advantage, though i had also thought of doing more than one session per month at different times. (all suggestions welcome).
Maybe tomorrow evening (Feb 21st) may be of interest to some who would like to try it.
The main thing for people to remember is Paid poeni am beth chi ddim yn gwybod, it’s about fun learning.
If there are any words, structures or sentences people wish to practice, use or understand, post them here and we will all have time to think about something to say.
don’t worry about Eddie the eagle (unless you want to) he is English and this is going towards Eddie (pwy) , i have given the story some thought for an interesting ending and to make it different, of course someone else may take the story on a different path or start another story.
Possibly one of the best parts of the skype sessions is having no idea where they will go.
Diolch, JP, Tatjana! I may be able to look in for a bit tomorrow night, but only briefly, and after 9pm.
I’ve been feeling a tad depressed about the Welsh project recently, for various reasons, so I think it would be really fun to put faces to some more of the names here! (I don’t mind about Eddie the Eagle though, one way or the other!)
Hi Netmouse, i have sent a contact request on skype. barod i siarad.
I could set up a different group for Sunday evenings if people wish to join in just let me know.
Is 8pm good for you, that would give netmouse the chance to join in when ready. I can send out the usual group call and anyone who can not make it,paid poeni amdani, it will just register as a missed call so no problem, of course anyone who can make it Gwych.
I’d love to get aquainted:) But 9 pm is a bit late - it’s 11 pm in Belarus. I’ll try, though. As you say, it’s always lovely to meet the people behind the forum nicknames.
Would it be possible to join in sometime? I would love to increase how often I speak Welsh, and I think it would be fun to speak with some of the people I see posting on the forum etc.
No problem if there are already enough people participating
Now … just a little reminder to you all or to @ramblingjohn for that matter: Which time we’re discussing here? GMT or GMT+1? GMT+1 is mine and @brigitte’s time, @stella’s however is GMT+3 if I’m correct. So at 8 pm John’s time is 9 pm mine and Brigitte’s and 11 pm Stella’s. I’d like to be in time and I’d also like @netmouse not to be too late and of course I wouldn’t want Stella being up too late at night (this is my domain. - hehe - being up until 2 or 3 in the morning …)
I believe though John talks about GMT (his) times though but anyway. I’ll see where I’ll end up at that time. For now I’m in (if you want me of course).
If there are too many, I’d retreat for the sake of newcommers. I’d like everyone would experience such chat so if there are too many already, let me know.
Tatjana fach, I normally go to sleep around 3 am:) So it’s not such a big problem, but I don’t know just how good my Welsh will be at 11 pm. @Flynn, it would be so lovely to see you at these group meetings, you should definitely join!
I’m really interested in Welsh conversation via Skype. I’m a bit late to the party so and it seems like tomorrow will be very popular. Are these regular events? I’ve used Skype for Welsh a few weeks ago and it was great fun!
John and I are certainly talking about GMT. Best to arrange in Welsh time - the internationals can always check with an online clock to be sure.
It would be lovely to ‘meet’ you too, @Stella, although it’s sounding a bit late - pyjama party?
The more the merrier I’d have thought! If it were ever to get too busy, it could always break up into two sessions anyway.
