Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 1-8 August 2026 - Sir Benfro

Although the Eisteddfod will be officially in Llantwd, Sir Benfro, in 2026, it also takes in the south of Ceredigion and the west of Sir Gâr, so quite a large catchment area.

The local organisers are already looking to put plans in place and are calling for applicants to take part in the main ceremonies:

As you know the Eisteddfod will return to the area in August 2026 and amongst the highlights are the Gorsedd Ceremonies which will be held in the Pavilion. There is an opportunity for local adults and young people to take a leading role in these Ceremonies as dancers in the Dawns Flodau/Flower Dance and as Gorsedd presenters. Preparations for the Garreg Las Eisteddfod 2026 have begun and we’re holding teatime sessions to share ideas around attracting new audiences and fun, fundraising events! There’s a warm croeso for everyone who wants to join in.

The most recent session was on April 9th, but if you’re interested, keep an eye on Teatime Sessions

Why not join us on 17 May in Narberth? Come and be part of the Proclamation Festival for Eisteddfod y Garreg Las. Community groups and schools are very welcome to be part of the community procession, and we’re also looking for volunteers to help out on the day. The procession starts at 10:00 and the ceremony at 11:00, and the Llandudoch Eisteddfod is held on the same day, so why not spend the whole day celebrating Welsh culture?

Broadcaster and presenter Mari Grug will be the President of this year’s Eisteddfod y Garreg Las, following an invitation from the local executive committee.
She will address the audience from the Pavilion stage on the Eisteddfod Maes during the opening ceremony on Saturday, 1 August.
Responding to the announcement, Mari said, “It’s a great honour. Receiving the invitation was quite a shock, to be honest! I certainly wasn’t expecting it, I have to say, but those who know me know that the Eisteddfod has always been a huge part of my life."

Carys Garnon James, who lives in Germany, will be the Wales and the World President at this year’s Eisteddfod y Garreg Las.
Originally from St Dogmaels, Carys has lived in Germany for years, but continues to visit the area regularly and keeps close ties with family and friends.
We look forward to welcoming Carys to the Maes for her address from the Pavilion stage on Thursday.
