My friends have told me that the local (Swansea/Neath) name is Chwrthin. The GPC dictionary gives: Chwitl or siĂ´l fagu

What really caught my eye was this sentence showing how difficult life was in the Valleys
In fact, the mortality rates of women who worked in the home was higher than than those of their menfolk who worked in the pit.
I went to Amazon and purchased Our Mother’s Land because I read that article.
