If I missed you, feel free to give me a prod. Just to confuse matters so no-one knows who I am and avoiding my real name of Wondersheep, I’m going by the pseudonym Kev on Clecs for anonymity. Or something
My mate Sŵt asked me to sign up for him. Don’t laugh at his dodgy red bow, it came with the haircut. SwtapMac:grinning: The app looks ok and bite sized reading/writing works for me in Welsh or English. Ardderchog, @clecs
Come on! it’s just a “clec”. No big deal. Or you make it right or wrong … Yah, words easily turn into somethng you didn’t want if written/said wrong, I know …
I joined up a couple of days ago @Netmouse and have followed most of the ssiw-ers I think. (Sorry if I missed anyone, but of a rush job, please feel free to prod me…)
I wonder if it’s a bit quieter after the initial flurry of activity? Or I’m maybe missing something by not following enough people yet. Looks fun anyway.
I have joined some days ago too, but found that all the things I want to say are a bit too complicated for me at the moment:) Which is funny really, because I always insist that my students should speak in very simple sentences when they start to learn a language and I’m always ready to demonstrate how many things one can say using just one tense and a hundred words. And then I get frustrated at myself for not being able to write sophisticated things)
But it’s a wonderful place, really, and it helps me improve my reading skills in Welsh enormously:) I have the same name there - Stella.
Dwi’n gwybod. Yn ni’n yn dilyn ei gilydd. (I know, we follow each-other.)
Oh, don’t worry. If one would know how much time I spend to form a proper clec which you are able to read when I post it. Sometimes it takes me even 5 or 10 minutes or even more if I presume Google translate isn’t too accurate with words and structures it offers me to use. And, of course, I always tend to use words and structures I’ve already learnt so I play with modeling the sentences a lot before posting.
As I said, Google Translate isn’t working as translator to me, it’s a tool (despite quite clumsy at times) which helps me form sentences and find me words I don’t know yet or I’ve forgot for that matter. (oh, if one would know how much of everything I forget in the space of time between two lessons, that one would cry …)
Oh, dw i’n gwybod. I enjoy your morning and evening posts a lot:)
And yeah, I completely understand how much time it can take to write something, especially when, as in our case, there are no native speakers around to point out “Look, it seems grammatically corrct, but it’s not how we say that, try using this expression instead”. But I’m using “Modern Welsh dictionary”, it’s wonderful because shows where the mutations must go. (but I forget them anyway)
Don’t worry. I forget usually them all when speaking. When writing I sometimes remember to use them though.
As concerns (printed) dictionaries, I have one but print is so small that I am frustrated to use it. I had one which was made by the team of Cardiff university but quite some words are missing inthere. It has the option to upgrade it by your own words though but I rearly remember to do that after I find the word somewhere else. And I’m not quite sure if it would work with Windows 8. Quite many things I had on previous computer I had to work around to push them to work on Windows 8 again.
Thank you. I tend to say greetings a bit different way from many other people using some of my photos, 3D creations or drawings and at some point even music I electronically compose. Ohh, you just reminded me I didn’t say good morning yet. Hmmm … what should I put on this time …
Yeah, exactly:( But still I like it that they are exist in Cymraeg. Mutations make the Celtic languages so unique (though frustrating sometimes).
I also find that there are many words missing in my dictionary, but I found several online dictionaries and so they supplement each other very nicely.
Wow, this is very interesting:) I’ll be waiting for the opportunity to hear it!
I believe going through my posts you’ll find one. Clec says “Nos da” or something like that amd there’s a link to SoundCloud included. I’m a bit sorry there’s no “embed” function included into @Clecs but it developes so you never know.
