faithless78 (anyway) too famous name to just throw it away now. (unless you really want to change it).

I am torn between GavHumphreys, for complete clarity, and faithless78 for all the other reasons!

I did indeed. I did that because we were told we ought to use our real names on the new one - something I donā€™t really like doing on the internet, to be honest!

Canā€™t you just change your name to faithless78 by deed poll?

(Iā€™m changing mine to KR4 768C in order to have a personalised numberplate.)

Wps, must have missed that oneā€¦

I think ā€˜warmly encouraged to use real namesā€™ was what we were aiming forā€¦

I could, but that would cost money, and would be tricky to explain to the family!!

A deed poll is a legal document that proves a change of name. You can change any part, add or remove names and hyphens, or change spelling. It doesnā€™t cost anything to make your own deed poll. Specialist agencies and solicitors may charge a fee to do it for you.

Which wonā€™t help with the explanation to your family!

By the way, if you want to make a ward clerk in a hospital cry, have a long medical history with several sets of notes and then change your name. The ward clerk will have to change your name on the computer, which will take 5 minutes. But then he will have to re-lable every single sheet of your medical notes, perhaps hundreds of pages, with a new name lable.

See I always thought you needed to do this through a solicitor. I remember someone saying it cost them around Ā£25 to do. OK, not exactly ā€œbreaking the bankā€ sort of money, but Ā£25 is still Ā£25!

Mind you, I should imagine any name change would be a chore for anyone - including the person changing his/her name. Just as well Iā€™m not thinking of changing my name to that of a certain town on Ynys Mon anytime soonā€¦ :cold_sweat:
