Ysgol Haf Coleg Gwent

:seren:
Some of us went to the summer school in Pontypool this year, which was held in two sessions in July. I went to the one at the end of the month, five whole days for £60 including lunch and tea/coffee.

Well worth it. All those of my acquaintance were at Uwch or Uwch/Hyfedredd level. We had someone from Radio Cymru (with gift of music CD), a useful pack from Coleg Gwent (Gwrando’n Astud, Gwylio’n Graff). One day there was a Welsh Book shop in attendance and another day, a hall full of stands proffering membership of various organisations.

Midweek we spent an afternoon walking along the canal (with heron demonstrating how to catch and swallow a large fish), then up the hill to see the amazing shell grotto of the Hanbury family, and back via the Pontypool rugby ground. Some of us skipped that, laughing at how ‘the boys’ wanted to see a patch of grass with a couple of H’s either end. Only later did I realise I’d missed seeing the hallowed ground of the famous ‘Pontypool Front Row’!

And I should add the Hyfedredd tutor for the week was prifardd Cyril Jones, on telly today as he’s been discussing the free verse entries at the Eisteddfod - and the coroni was today, of course. What an amazing winner, Guto Dafydd, so young, so accomplished.

Were you in the Hyfedredd class? I was there and Cyril Jones was excellent. So different from other tutors. It was a very enjoyable week.

Just pottered around the Coleg Gwent website and found these videos - in Welsh - giving language tips.
Looks like some good things happening at this college…

@ llanddinol Yes - hi again Norman. It was great to see so many of us had come with SSIW credentials. I was the one who spoke about the book my husband and I published for the hospice.

@ dinas - diolch am hynny
