Hi all, complete noob and not by any means a language student in the past, 4 days in.
So from session 3 to session 4, yr seems to become i’r ?
I know I’m meant to be going with the flow (and mostly have and really enjoying it), but can’t help being curious as to why? The sentence structures seem similar to me other than the introduction of the word parhau and it’s mutation to barhau, so why does yr become i’r?
As far as I understand “Yr” is a form of “Y” meaning “the”. The Yr version is used when it comes before a vowel (in the next word)
“I’r” probably means “to the” or “for the” with the “I” part meaning “to/for” and the " 'r " being the form of “Y” which is used when it comes after a vowel.
I hope that makes sense? Does that fit with your specific sentences?

Breaking it down between the two sessions, in session 3
‘The Language’ is introduced as Yr iaith
The first sentence in session 4 is
The Welsh language to continue
Which sounds to me like
I’r iaith Gymraeg barhau
I can’t be sure i’r is the correcting spelling, it’s the difference in english between an eerr sound and ear sound. I did say I’m no language student!
I’r iaith Gymraeg barhau really means for the Welsh language to continue - i means to or for, and then the word for the becomes 'r after a vowel.
