Beth yw ystyr gyda’r addiodiad “wrth”? arddodiad eu ben ei hun yw fe? Neu mae rhaid ei defnyddio ddim ond gyda ferfau araill er mwyn gwneud golygu penodol fel “dweud wrth”

Hey everyone,

What is the meaning of the preposition “wrth”? Is it a standalone preposition? Or does it need to just be used with other verbs in order to make a specific meaning like “dweud wrth”?

I don’t really know what you mean with a “standalone preposition” – in my experience a preposition is always paired with something else. That something isn’t necessarily a verb, it can also be a noun, for example in the set phrase wrth gwrs - of course, or in the sentence
Mae e’n sefyll wrth y drws. – He is standing by the door.
