Don’t know whether its me but I need to write the English down using pause button and then say the welsh and unpause, anyone else having to do this?
hi Keith,
I had a hard time remembering the English sentences since the beginning. But since all it’s really required is to say something and not necessarily all the sentence, I managed to finish Level 1 and 2 just by using pause button. And occasionally going back to listen to it again - but really most of the time, I just said whatever I remembered - which for longer ones was often either the first 2-3 words or the last 2-3 words.
I can tell it worked fine anyway!
However with Level 3 I was really stuck so I attempted them a few times and then decided to write all the English down and it worked wayyy better.
I was able to finish Level 3 smoothly, then. When you reach Level 3, if you want some ready made transcriptions…feel free to ask me!
You’ll by no means the only one doing this, Keith, because no course can be a “one-size-fits-all” and everybody has their own pace. However, the way this course is designed really puts the emphasis on listening and speaking, and the less you can rely on visual prompts (including writing out the English), the better, as doing this actually slows down the learning process of this particular method. As Gisella said, you don’t have to get the whole sentence out, just as much as you can manage - there is spaced repetition, so it’s not as if you only get one go.
If it’s absolutely the only way you can do it, then that’s fine, it’ll just take longer in the long term, but if you can resist doing it and trust the method, even the things you don’t think you’ve got will seem to come from nowhere and be stuck stronger in the end.
