What's outside

Glad to see plenty of activity here while i was away in north wales.
Worldly weather, well Easter in yr gogledd provided, wind, rain and low temperatures.
We were lucky as our three steam trains ran on time, those planning to ride up Snowdon were disappointed as the train was only doing a short journey as the mountains had turned white over night.

Hen tren (plenty of heat in the fire box).

Hopefully that was winters last gasp and spring will reappear soon.

I am so sorry, I should have said, yesterday, that I do hope that all of you in UK or Ireland south of me are OK and did not suffer too much from Katie!!! I know what it is like to be blown down and to have next door’s garage roof blown off!! This time, we had sun and calm blue sky after a calm and quiet night!

After the coach driver took us over the llanberis pass, he admitted to having white knuckles some of the time (when the wheels were slidding), he also said in his many years of driving (often in Scotland) he had never seen so many water falls comming off mountain sides (yes it was spectacular).

Heddiw, ar ol oedd’r tywydd yn stormus, dipyn o haul.

I now know i have to be aware of the wind on built in microphone which blots out some of the talking,
never mind, the scene is better than me talking.

Researching for the Welsh for pussy willow, there seems to be no generic term. It’s probably Helyg llwyd (Grey willow) or Helyg crynddail (Goat willow).

Thank you! I actually tried to look for the Welsh name before posting and couldn’t find anything!

I meant to mention that a few of our siskins (don’t know Cymraeg) came back about 2 weeks ago. There are not many yet. The photo situation is pretty impossible with too many finches and tits coming and going too quickly!!
We still have one robin who stays so briefly that I suspect our garden is not home!

Pila gwyrdd - siskin. (don’t give up on the camera, those moments will happen).

Madfall ddwr cyffredin - smooth newt.
These are difficult to identify when young but i think i’m right as there are spots under its chin and no stripes on the toes.
Anyway, three successfully moved yesterday from a trench we were digging, and this one seemed quite happy under a plant pot today (amazing what can be found in an Oxford garden).

Melyn y rhafnwydd - Brimstone. (first of the year for me and will get a better photo soon i hope).

Madfall - common lizard.

The weather girl on TV promised us it wouldn’t freeze tonight but there’s no hiding the slushy qualities of the ‘rain’ sliding down the outside of the window!
Earlier today I did find this:

I don’t know what to call a polypore in Welsh but I think the tree is onnen.

Lovely!! The ones near here, on/in a marsh, are green!

Now that sounds like a photo i would like to see.

Heddiw i happened upon a Bee fly again.

Gwenynbryf / pryf cacwn - Bee fly. (as ever, click image for full size, video best full screen).

Please forgive the comentary which is wrong and confussed (it would appear in the excitement of the moment, my small amount of Welsh fell into the undergrowth and returned in a jumble).

Paill - Pollen.
Neithdar - Nectar.
Llygad Ebrill - Lesser celandine.

Vitebsk today. My favourite, fragile and yet resilient (it blooms before the other plants even think about waking up from their winter sleep) flower with the unromantic name Dail yr afu. (Hepatica nobilis)

The trees are still bare and there’s some snow here and there, but the buds (blagur?) are green which gives us hope it won’t snow anymore!

Broga/Llyffant melyn - common frog.

Chwilen deigr werdd - Green tiger beetle.
As soon as i get some time i intend discussing with @tatjana (techno wizard) video editing software and how to do voice overs.
Though to be honest, the wonderful tones of @seren would make a better voice over.

Why can’t one give one thousand and one “likes”? This frog is absolutely gorgeous:) Diolch yn fawr, John! :sunny:

PS: I have a terrible voice, I’ve heard myself. Your voice overs are very nice the way they are:)

As I’ve said … we, people in majority just don’t like our voices …

Voice over you can make in editing software @ramblingjohn or you can separately record the naration. This can be made even in Movie Maker Live without any problem. Camtasia is even better but is not for free so isn’t Sony Vegas, the best video editing software ever! But MM is free and MAGIX video Edit is fairly accassible too … But, as you said - we shall discuss the thingy some time if you wish.
