Several of these fungi have appeared near the base of a hornbeam hedge in my garden, all with dark centres grading towards white at the edge - it was the white gills that made me take notice of them, but I don’t know what they are - I’m sure @ramblingjohn and @pippapritchard will though

Cap llaeth tonllyd - Fiery milk cap (mae’n bosib).
The stem should be quite brittle, Scratch the gills and white
juice will emerge (a drop of this applied to the tip of tongue
will explain where the name comes from)!

Diolch J.P. yes, the stem does seem quite brittle. When I scratch the gills though I couldn’t see a white juice emerging, but could that depend on the age of the cap?

The milk from russula isn’t always easy to get
but the brittle stem certainly suggests correct family.

Another for @ramblingjohn! I think I was a bit too severe when pruning the dogwood last year. It is now feeding this (bracket?) fungus but I have no idea what it is in either English or Welsh.

Yes, to be fair, one thing I miss from my days living in E Anglia was the way that deer would just venture out of wooded areas and hapilly visit villages.
