I’ve deleted the Firefox home screen app and used Chrome to create a replacement but get the same behaviour. I’ve looked at battery settings for each app and setting them to unrestricted makes no difference. Once the screen is locked it will continue playing to the end of the second model voice and then stop.
Thank you for the very rapid creation of Icelandic. 
Unfortunately I won’t get a chance to try it until Monday.

I tried learning Greek when I was working in Cyprus nearly twenty years ago, probably the first time I actually enjoyed trying to learn a language even though I didn’t get far.
It was that enjoyment that prompted me to try learning Welsh properly when I returned to the UK and I discovered SSiW.
So I’ll definitely be giving Greek a second go (once I’ve re-completed the French course).
And half-seriously what about Latin?
I’d love to be able to show off at parties (and never be invited back)

@RichardBuck I’m seeing options for Persian - Maori looks as though it might be tricky to do right now (but next step is to set up a builder that volunteers can use even without LLM support - I’m hoping we’ll make some decent progress on that before the end of the year).
@SteakAndEggs gah, sorry - this seems to be beating us at the moment! Can I ask - do you get the same problem if you run it in Chrome? And hey, no, no, nobody gets to take a weekend off if we’ve just produced a new Icelandic course for them 
@ianblandford I’m actually super keen to do Latin! But I’m not sure what the LLM state of play is there at the moment - it may need to wait for the volunteer build tool

It’s just the same in the Chrome ɓrowser as opposed to the app. 
Not really a weekend off. I’m cycle touring in Brittany. It’ll be awkward to keep the screen on while riding!

Im sorry to ask such a silly question, but: you’re writing here about so many new languages, how can I find them ? Ive updated my app on the phone, but there are no new languages.
I am particularly interested in Romanian.
Damn, that sounds like (almost!) exactly what driving mode is for. Weird that it’s doing it in Chrome as well. We’re bandwidth thin at the moment, but I’ll have some more chats with Tom about this.

How does your brain not explode?! I have to admit to being a serial monogamist when it comes to languages. I didn’t feel ready to start anything properly seriously until my Welsh felt more or less instinctive.
As a side note, when I learned Welsh it blocked my French (which I’m sure I could bring back with a bit of usage). But I’ve noticed that because I’m using Welsh every day now the Irish I’m learning isn’t interfering, which I’m very happy about!

Sometimes it does. The results of trying to speak Catalan on a Cymdeithas yr Iaith weekend in Bethesda were comical… even though the Catalan speakers all also spoke Welsh, and actually understood every word. And besides, I did say I was neglecting the Italian and haven’t started the Icelandic yet. (And I never breathed a word about Hittite.)

Is this thread a good place for snagging? I’m pressing on a bit with the Greek, but have had two app (rather than language) issues today:
- on my phone (Android 14 Samsung One UI 6.1 app version 1ecd751 - assuming that’s what it means in the top left corner - installed as an app but presumably some kind of PWA) I’m nearing the end of White belt when suddenly the voices start running away with themselves - interrupting each other, prompt after prompt with no pause.
- I tried turning the responsive pacing off, in case I was answering fast enough to get into an arms race with the robots, but it didn’t stop the behaviour.
- I went back a prompt or two, and it read the things it had gabbled properly this time, but then after a minute or two started to race again.
- I thought I’d try it on a different device, but I found that despite being signed in on both (and, in fact, signing out and then back in again on the other device) progress hasn’t synced between the two - I’m on seed 6 of 7 on my phne, but seed 0 on the netbook.

We hope we’ve solved it - an Android thing - if you make sure you’re on d0b475d or later, it would be great to know if the fix works!
I’d got through about half of white belt trying and failing to replicate it, and learning some Greek by accident on the way

Got b1d99f3, although there’s another update since. Happy to test, although it might not be until tomorrow. Do we know if whatever it was is independent of belt? I skipped to the start of Yellow on my netbook and am now part-way through, but the phone is still on seed 7 of White - I can skip prompts to catch up with the netbook, or try it on the end of White. (Sync between devices is not happening at the moment, I’m afraid.)

We don’t think it’s connected to belts - and the lack of sync is probably a separate issue which we’ll try to figure out

Build 4b02ec3, Greek, Yellow belt, starting from Seed 4 IIRC - started gabbling after about 9 minutes 30. (Current timestamp after I managed to stop it says 09:42.)
Looks like you may be in for some more drive-by Greek… Συγγνώμη…
