What language(s) would you like us to build next?

First may I say that it’s awesome how many languages are now supported. I am a little confused by the different platforms though as the new languages only appear on the web version & not in my android app?

Also: does my annual subscription cover the new languages? My normal app credentials didn’t seem to work with the new web version. I was able to log in with an email-supplied code, but my subscription doesn’t appear under my account details.

Georgian, fascinating language, I’d love to see how you work around the screeve verbal system.

Hi Phil - yup, we’re publishing the free courses on our new test web-app - your annual subscription covers all the paid-for languages in the Android/Apple/current web-app - the courses being released in the new test web-app are all free at the moment (we’re going to have to keep a careful eye on delivery costs to see if we can maintain that, but it’s our goal).

We will be adding payments to the new web-app and then aiming to integrate with existing accounts, but we don’t want to rush that, because it’s not a simple piece of work. When we have, we’ll think about whether or not we’ll make the new web-app available as a native app - to be honest, dealing with Google and Apple in terms of subscriptions is an absolute nightmare, and it’s far from certain that we’ll want to build a native version for that reason.

Hi Tony - yes, that’s our current production app, where we’re focused mainly on paid-for courses - the new languages we’re talking about in here are on the different app (you’ll need a different login) at www.saysomethingin.app

Was a Czech course in the pipeline? I think all my other wishes have come true already  It’s really impressive how many languages are available now!

I’m not seeing a Czech one in there at the moment, so I’ve just stuck my head round the door of the Popty and fired one up for you, should be done before the end of the week

Do Maori pretty please! (Te Reo Māori)
There’s a real gap there, bit niche but not tiny, and also just very cool

Some of us here are super keen to do Te Reo Māori, so it’s definitely on our radar, though I’m not sure how we’d go for voices. @aran?

Yes, we’d love to do Te Reo, but I’m not seeing any voices we could use yet, so it may have to wait until we could fund recordings. Or maybe partner with interested folk.

Czech is in there now - usual caveats apply, it’s beta, not human tested yet, there will be hiccups - but it should still work

@SteakAndEggs just fired up Serbian now

Surely Latin?

It wasn’t me asking for Serbian; I think it was @welshspringbok. Perhaps your Croatian live-streaming has indeed fried your brain! But kudos to you for doing it and for so publicly demonstrating the method. I hope that it brings another dimension to your holiday.

I would love to revisit my Hungarian using the SSi-method :smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

(I had asked it before in the previous thread just before this one split off, so apologies for repeating myself - it’s just that with the new political situation I’m so eager to visit Budapest again soon :innocent: )

Oh, oops! :joy: Yes, very deep fried at the moment.

Latin, hmmm. I’m reliably informed it’s a real can of worms in terms of how much people disagree about accents! I’d like to do it - can’t see it in any of the tools we’re using at the moment, though, so might be a project for later on

I think that’s a can do - I’ll put it on the list after Serbian

Diolch
(Good to see your head isn’t TOO fried yet! :+1: )

Can I also add a +1 vote for - yes, I know you hate the term - “proper” Latin as opposed to Church or Vulgar Latin? So no Seezar but Kaizar for the most famous of Juliuses

Hi Aran, I would personally love to see Hungarian as I need to learn it and know that SSI would greatly expedite spoken Hungarian which would be my primary aim. There is actually a Hungarian community organisation in North Wales and I’m pretty sure you could find some speakers from there to help out. I’d be happy to look into it for you, or I can ask other Hungarian friends too!
