What is the difference between

What is the difference between,“i ddweud y gwir” and “a dweud y gwir”?

The first is “to tell the truth” but in the sense of “in order to tell the truth” (the ‘i’ here implies the sense of “in order to”), the second is “and to tell the truth” or “and telling the truth”. It’s a fairly subtle difference really.

Many thanks Sharon. The first one I had already decided upon. But the second I was thinking along the lines of “and to tell the truth” = “actually!!!”

Yes, it can be used for when we say “actually” in English too (and also when we say “in fact”!) - well deduced!

Exactly so! It is THE translation for actually. New book will confirm this when it finally comes out!!
