Much respect to the Hen Gapel John Hughes at Pontrobert – taking their Plygain seriously with a 6am service!
Beautiful area of the country too. Just had a look at it on Google Maps.
They pride themselves on being part of a continuing, uninterrupted tradition in that part of Maldwyn.
Mae Sion Corn ar y ffordd! For this year’s Christmas card, I thought I would combine visual references to where I was born (Pendyrus / Tylorstown / Wales) with where I spent a large part of my life (Yr Almaen / Germany) and where I live now (Caerlwytgoed / Lichfield / England). Scan the QR code for the first verse of the Welsh version (Tawel Nos) of the German-Austrian carol Stille Nacht (Silent Night). Learning Welsh carols is one of the ways I am trying to teach myself Welsh. Members of the u3a-affiliated Grwp Cymraeg in Lichfield - several of whom, like me, have been enjoying the SSiW method of language-learning - will be meeting up privately on 18 December to celebrate Christmas the Welsh way. Nadolig Llawen!
We have several events in the run up to Christmas, including:
Mae ganddon ni dipyn o ddigwyddiadau ymlaen cyn Nadolig:
- Gig Tun Sardins 15/12/23
- Plygain 21/12/23 - buy your tickets in advance!
- Record Fair 22/12/23, 10am-4pm
Gwasanaeth Cerdd Ysgolion Gwynedd a Môn’s Christmas Concert will be at St Peter’s Church, Pwllheli on Saturday, December 23rd at 15:00
So many more Mari Lwyd events this year! It’s brilliant to see!
Not an event but plygain-related: a wonderful podcast episode all about plygain, featuring Gwilym Bowen-Rhys and some beautiful singing.
