I am no doubt missing something that is very obvious but it has taken me an age to scroll through all existing topics in order to be able to ask a question at the very bottom of the page - my query may well be an existing topic… I feel sure that there must be an easier way for direct access to the location for entering the question or comment.
My question is in respect of the speech volume in the daily practice sessions new 2 (North). I find that this continuously varies from soft to loud. I wonder if it is a function of the recording process or maybe I have some incorrect settings on my laptop. Any help would be welcome to avoid the disconcerting need to be hovering over the volume control button whilst at the same time trying to concentrate on the lesson!
I look forward to your comments including very probably “stupid boy”!
Since the practice sessions are made (I think) by adding short snippets of sound, it might just be that the files need equalising by whoever is putting them together.
I’m a little unclear here - when you say ‘new’, are you talking about Level 1 and 2? Or are you talking about the old Course 1 and Course 2? The Levels don’t have practice sessions for speaking, only for listening - is that what you’re referring to?
You don’t have to scroll through all existing topics to ask a question - just use the search function (top right over there, looks a bit like a magnifying glass) to double-check, but otherwise just ‘+New Topic’ as you did to start this…
Sorry for the confusion. I am presently working through Level 2 (new) and also doing the Course 2 daily practices. It is in the latter that I have been aware of the varying volumes.
Many thanks for pointing out the obvious for starting a new topic. There are none so blind as will not see !!!
It’s always easy when you know how to do it (and baffling before then!)…
Ah, right, okay - yes, those Course 2 daily practices are taken from the old, initial database, so the levels do tend to vary over the lessons, and sticking sentences from different lessons next to each other can highlight that.
I’d recommend doing the last listening exercise from Level 1 (on a daily basis) instead of the daily stuff from Course 2, actually…
