Very very random question about item on Radio Cymru

Hello everyone

I was listening to something a couple of weeks ago on Radio Cymru and I’m intrigued to know if I got the gist of the item correctly.

So, I’m wondering, did anyone else hear this item? and was it about what I thought it was about?

It was an interview with a guest and the guest appeared (to my very beginner ears) to be talking about the concept of zero and counting, and then I picked up what I thought was the welsh for ‘bees’, and came to the possibly entirely wrong conclusion that the interviewee was explaining that bees are able to communicate concepts of number, and particularly of ‘none’, to each other.

It’s such a wonderful idea I really want to have understood correctly. Did anyone else hear this? Was it about bees understanding and communicating concepts of number??!! Or was about something else completely?!

Thanks!

I didn’t catch the piece on Radio Cymru, but I reckon you understood it because this: https://www.newscientist.com/article/2142884-bees-are-first-insects-shown-to-understand-the-concept-of-zero/

I didn’t hear the item on Radio Cymru and as it was a couple of weeks ago, I’m not sure whether it would still be on iPlayer. But a quick Google reveals that bees do understand the concept of zero as well as bigger and smaller numbers.

Snap! We must have been googling and posting simultaneously.

hehehe :joy: I’d say we certainly have been
