Vegan Welsh

I can’t find the Welsh for vegan - fegan maybe or just vegan?
also Llysieuol = vegetarian according to one dictionary as in to describe the food type where as another has bwyd i lysieuwyr which I’m feeling is more like food for vegetarians?

That’s brilliant Siaron. I knew about “cigwrthodwr” for vegetarian but “cigwrthodwr caeth” for vegan is brilliant. “Strict meat refuser” - I love it.

Yes, I’ve seen both “figan” and “figanaidd” out and about.

Figanaidd is what I was taught on Duolingo, for what it’s worth.

A few years ago a learner of the year spoke to my summer school Welsh class, describing why she had decided to learn Welsh. It included selling vegan chocolate cake at the Eisteddfod. When she left our tutor said she’d never heard of pagan chocolate cake. Vegan, Vagan, Pagan. Add in the mutations. But it was definitely vegan chocolate cake.

When I went on prynhawn da, the lady ahead of me did a short piece as part of veganuary. As a strict veggie and vegan most days of the week. As a veggie myself, i believe llysieuwr is the most popular term.
