Two ways to say the same thing?

Hello!

I’m slowly battling my way through course 2, and up to lesson 17, and noticed a new structure which seems to have the same meaning as we used to have in course 1.

Here’s an example (please excuse my Welsh spelling!)

Dwi angen ymarfer.
Mae angen i me ymarfer.

Perhaps I’m over-thinking this, but aren’t these interchangeable, or are certain situations where one is more appropriate than the other?

Sounds like the southern construction mae eisiau i fi to me, but with the northern word angen dropped in. They both mean I need.

Just two ways of saying the same thing, as you can in English.

So is either one still applicable following bod or would it typically be bod angen i mi (as in lesson 17)?

By the way, how do you format text (eg italic) on this new forum?

You’re good either way - bod angen i mi… or bo fi angen or mod i angen etc etc. Don’t overthink it, just use whichever comes first…:slight_smile:

If you put a star directly before and after a word, you’ll get it in italics…:slight_smile:
