Translation of "I would like"

L1 Challenge 4. Why is “Hoffen i” used for the translation of “I would like” ? I assume this the 1st person singular, indicative, conditional tense of “hoffi”; when "hoffwn i " is the form quoted in Grammar books e.g Modern Welsh etc and on line. Is it a local South Walian variation ??

                                                 Many thanks.

It’s just the spoken variation, yes.

Yes, it’s just a variation reflecting the pronunciation in the south.
