I’m looking to translate the phrase “down in one” into Welsh - aka the phrase people might chant to someone who has appeared with a full pint. Firstly, I’d be looking for a literal translation, secondly I was wondering what the equivalent phrase (if it exists) would be in Welsh?
To be honest, I can’t remember from experience what I’ve heard in the past, but a literal translation would be i lawr mewn un, and I suppose you might hear chants of lawr, lawr, lawr! (“down, down, down!”) but idioms for “to down a drink” are llyncu diod ar eich talcen (lit. “swallow a drink on your forehead”) or rhoi diod o’r golwg (lit. “put a drink from sight”) - neither of which are particularly succinct to chant! In the North, there is also cofftio diod (lit. “to quaff/gulp a drink”), so maybe Cofftia fo! (lit. the command “Quaff it!”) would also work as a chant.
