I am puzzled by the use of “se” in the translation of the phrase “as though it were yesterday” >> “fel se hi’n ddoe” seen in L2 Ch 5. I am struggling to find an explanation, is it some sort of abbreviation but there are no space marks; is it a phonetic variation of “sy” . I have so far failed to find a link in my grammar book.
Could it be replaced by “oedd” in this context?

Technically, it should be 'se, or even 'sai, but that’s sometimes the problem of representing colloquial speech in writing. It stands for tasai:
Fel tasai hi’n ddoe – As if it were yesterday
