The longer the better, it seems

I just wanted to share my beginner’s anecdotal experience in case anyone may find it useful.

I have been absolutely loving this course. In truth, Welsh has never been on my radar. The Goidelic Celtic languages have been an interest of mine for a while and I’ve kicked around dabbling with Welsh “at some point.” However, after only being on challenge 6, I’m hooked. I’m now reading a book on the history of the Welsh language, watching YouTube videos on Welsh history and culture, etc.

Anyways, on to the topic at hand. I have noticed that the longer my sessions are, the better I retain the vocabulary and structures. I have tried everything from short 10-15 minute sessions and as long as 2 hour ones with my average session length being around 40 minutes. My observation is that consistently the material that’s hardest for me to absorb is that which was learned in the short sessions. It seems to be that, in the longer sessions, you have more time to play with it and it sticks.

I have also completely given up the fear of forgetting things. “Just keep going” seems to work perfectly well.

I have been a foreign language enthusiast since being a teenager and I have never come across a program so efficient and effective. I’m praying for a Scottish Gaelic course to come out (when I’m far enough along in Welsh, of course)!

Thanks so much for all that you do!

Diolch yn fawr iawn! It sounds like you’re doing just what you need to do to become a confident Welsh speaker!

Your comments could be very useful for someone unsure about out methodology, so if you would like to write something along those lines in TrustPilot -
