Why is it “Pueda” for both male and female in “tan duro como pueda”?
Thanks
Why is it “Pueda” for both male and female in “tan duro como pueda”?
Thanks
It’s because it’s subjunctive, nothing to do with male or female. There’s ‘doubt’ in the phrase because no one knows how ‘duro’ a person can do it.
It’s usual to say como pueda for “as I can” or “as he/she can” because of that ‘doubt’ or uncertainty.
Thank you Deborah
