Submitting the petition, update!

Oh dear, I,never thought of that. I suppose, if I look on my lap top snd just list countries and uk counties on a note in my iPad. It would be quite easy to count! I’d have to admit to the small number who are actually in Wales, which would lower the number!
Then I can pretty it up for the Chairmen of Select Committees.

Well, @Deborah-SSi, if I ever manage to get a list of places and numbers from each, it won’t be yet!
I thought I wasn’t doing badly yesterday collecting about two or three petition pages. Today. I log in and find the number of signatures has gone from 1125 to 1141!! This is wonderful, but totally bugs my method, which was working up from 1 and I’m no longer sure how far I got, as I have to leave out all who are in Wales!!
I think the best I’ll manage is a list of countries and a rough count of numbers from each!
Today’s lovely additions are from Norway, Scotland (2) - (Hi folks, I’m in exile in Argyll!), France (Brittany), Italy, Manchester, Hungary, 3 from USA (Michigan, North Carolina and Tennessee) and 2 from Tasmania, Australia!!!

And on we go! Special thanks to. I think, an SSiW member from Ukraine. @kynareth? Oh, maybe not here any more, as I got no recognition, but he/she is on the map! Also, 3 from USA and a lady from Sheffield, making 1146, @Deborah-SSi

Having read the n/l. Diolch, @Deborah-SSi, for the mention, I clicked the link to check it and saw at once that we now have 1050!!!
In the next n/l, would you thank all running meet-ups and local groups who have asked their members to sign! Latest were in Spain, Milton Keynes, Germany and Tennessee!! Diolch Pawb!!

Up to 1056 overnight! Merseyside, Gloucester (2), Taranaki - New Zealand, Devon and Cheltenham!! Diolch Pawb!! @Deborah-SSi - note Taranaki!!

Just thought with an estimated 200,000 plus welsh speakers living outside wales is it worth people who use facebook sharing this link? maybe their friends who see it will also share it etc.

Sorry if its already been mentioned.

Brilliant idea! @Deborah-SSi could you ask Facebook and Twitter users to share it?

I’ve seen it going round on Facebook quite a lot recently, and on Twitter though I don’t use that as often so it might be more than I know about. I know it’s been shared in the bigger Dysgwyr groups, and others have passed it on.
I could ask in the newsletter for people to post it on any other FB groups that might be relevant.

Diolch yn fawr!

@Deborah-SSi Up to 1063
Cheltenham, Oxford, Dublin!
Coventry, Dusseldorf, Bridgenorth and Massachusetts!

Oops, I put 1146 in the newsletter last week, as that’s what it said above and I didn’t check it. I came here to see why it had dropped to 1063, and realised that you meant 1046 previously :slight_smile:

Oh dear! Mae’n ddrwg gen i in spades! I must have mistyped and not noticed. On this ipad the key board is a touch pad and is very easy to get wrong. Numbers can’t be due to auto correct with which I have running battles! So no excuse! Please tell everyone it was my fault!

I haven’t said anything in the newsletter - just put the correct number :slight_smile: If I hadn’t been half asleep writing the previous one I would have noticed the huge jump and checked so slack editing on my part too. The main thing is that it’s going up and up and getting support from around the world.

@Deborah-SSi
It is me that is going doo-lally (has gone, ond ydy e?)
I somehow statrted typing 10** instead of 11** and didn’t check the petition when you picked up on it!
It is actually now up to 1169, that is one one six nine! Mil a chant a chewdeg a naw!
This is due to folk from… Hong Kong, Sheffield (with a lovely comment about the value of S4C for learners), Beecroft in Australia. London and, lastly, a lady called Helen in unnamed place in UK!
Mae’n ddrwg gen i! I am grovelling muchly! Please make it clear to all that I am clearly suffering at least some Altzheimers or Senile Dementia. Bad eyes don’t help, but it isn’t just that.
Oh and @aran How does one actually say 1169 yn y Gymraeg?

1169 - gwych! Mil cant chwe deg naw … dw i’n credu

And if I’d scrolled further back I’d have seen the actual trend, so my chemo brain isn’t helping! :blush:

At least you have a good reason! Hope not many sessions to go now! I will try to stay awake on line and read what I type properly after saving it, as the ipad does have a tendency to change things right at the last second!

Last chemo just before Christmas. Waiting for start of radiotherapy now - no date for that yet.

I’m hopelessly out of date, but it was always the chemo that was worst, so I hope that’s still true and you’ll feel,OK after radio! Tired maybe, but hopefully it is very directed and you don’t feel sick!

@Deborah-SSi As I have been shown to be unable to read and type reliably, it might be worth quoting this link:

which leads to the Public signature list which anyone can read. It shows how many there really are! Which, currently, is 1181!!!
Diolch yn fawr to:folk from Lancs, Northumberland, Pennsylvania (with a lovely comment from a gentleman whose ancestors crossed when there were 13 states!), UK - area unspecified, California and Bedfordshire both with lovely comments, one I should really delete as it says Monmouthshire, Herts, West Sussex and Lancs with comments, Hants and, last but not least, Australia with comment. All comments are actually very supportive, and I am truly grateful to all and to you and @aran for the publicity!

Only two more, @Deborah-SSi, but couldn’t resist telling you about the sweet lady from Orkney who says her Welsh husband suffers serious hiraeth if not able to watch S4C! He needs it to practice his Welsh and, I quote, “to watch the best rugby”!!! The other one is from Washington - sorry editing because State, not DC!
So 1183
