Struggling!

Hi everyone. I have fallen quite a bit behind on the tasks in-between challenges, though I’m almost up to date with the challenges themselves (currently going through level 2 challenge 8) but I don’t feel like any of it is ‘going in’. With it being the school holidays I’m finding less time, which seems daft as I’m on the 6 minutes a day course. My head is a bit pickled!! I haven’t done any of the swap sentences challenges, I haven’t had any practice apart from with my 2 children which is my own fault as I have no confidence in my ability to converse in Welsh :woman_facepalming: So I’m debating on whether to take a ‘pause’ and start level 2 again along with all the tasks in between. Any advice please? It would be nice to hear from previous strugglers too. Thanks. (Think I should probably join in on the forum/Slack a bit more too…)

I’m going to tag @aran for you. He’ll be the best person to answer this.

Don’t get disheartened in the meantime!

Hey Angela,
If you are on the 6 minutes a day subscription, make use of the 6/6 slack group, the tutors tend to reply quickly. In the slack group you will also see lots of messages from people who feel just like you, so you don’t have to feel alone. This forum is great because it’s open to anyone, but the slack group is great because it’s for a niche group of people all doing something similar.

I work in a uni, and I took a pause during a busy part of term. I took another pause because I went on holiday. I took another pause because one weekend I wanted to watch TV :tv:, and not do stressful Welsh lessons  I’m 30-odd weeks into the ‘26 week’ courses, and still have a couple more weeks to go. I’ve also had weeks where I’ve knocked out three lessons over a weekend, and at one point I even asked to be nudged on a week!

I start every lesson not being able to remember what I did last lesson. Aran, Dee and Nia will have advice about not going backwards, and repeating challenges, and enjoying making mistakes.

But you got through Level 1, and even have made headway through level 2 - so you can do it. You’re at the horrible part where lessons feel like they have diminishing returns - they don’t.

Be kind to yourself; perhaps take a pause, and crack on again once school starts again.

See you in the Slack group

I am also struggling, since at practically every sentence just now the German is coming to my mind straightaway. The Welsh, not so much. Very discouraging.
