SSIW South Course - Purple Belt Changes?

Hey all, first time posting here!

I’m around 35 hours into using the SSIW app on Android (having started using it seriously around a month ago) and have found it tremendously helpful so far. I just wanted to ask a quick question as I continue through my Welsh learning journey.

Since reaching Purple Belt (White Stripe), I’ve noticed the audio quality changing (more noticeable echo), with the original female model speaker being replaced with a new speaker. It’s certainly no major issue in itself (and I assume is just part of the course being continuously updated) but I’ve noticed that in conjunction with this, some of the grammatical structures and vocab now being used have not been introduced in the way that new structures were previously. At the same time, vocab like ‘cofio’ and ‘gweithio’, which we have been using for quite a few hours by this point, have just been re-taught (as if we were learning them from scratch).

I’m aware that not every new word or structure gets introduced explicitly (and that we are also expected to absorb new material simply through repetition) but I thought it was just worth checking if I was encountering a bug or not, as I am sometimes finding myself feeling as though I’ve missed the formal introduction of some words or phrases.

If anyone else has encountered anything similar, would be very helpful to know!

Hi George, and welcome to the forum!

We do have some different speakers - I couldn’t say off the top of my head at which point they kick in - and it’s certainly possible that we miss the odd intro, although we try very hard not to! Are you on the southern or northern course?

Appreciate the quick response! I’m working through the southern course.

As I mentioned, certainly not the end of the world - mainly just small things like ‘wedyn’ suddenly being used in responses after previously only using ‘nes ymlaen’.

I mainly just wanted to check there were no issues on my end. Sounds as though everything is working as intended though, so I’ll keep powering on!

That definitely sounds like an ‘us’ oops rather than anything your side of things! But you’re taking exactly the right approach - it’s surprising how much uncertainty the brain can roll with if you let it - so well done and thank you for your patience!
