I have recently rejoined ssiw after a few years away and have downloaded the ssiw app to my android mobile phone. I am working my way through the De Cymru course but am confused.
I have been advised to try listening to the course at a slightly faster speed but there appears to be no option on the app to change the speed of learning. I have logged on via mt laptop and the “how are you feeling” option to change speeds did appear there but when I pressed the play button the ssiw lesson just kept buffering without playing. Every other app on my laptop worked fine. I really want to go a bit faster but find it very frustrating at present
@michael-crocker some of the messages in the new app do need to be re-recorded, and they are on the list of things to do, so we will get to that. They come from the AutoMagic web app, which was the prototype, and it seems you may have found that on the website.
There are two web browser options which are best for on a laptop - app.saysomethingin.com is the new app, and automagic.saysomethingin.com is the prototype.
The buffering problem sounds like possibly a temporary internet glitch as it doesn’t usually happen. Have you tried it again since?
Hello. I have tried the web based app and it works fine. The automagic app still buffers all the time but its no problem.
I will use the normal app via my mobile phone and just ignore the messages asking me to try a faster setting…
I’m using the Android app for Welsh - South (Beta). It seemed to be working well for me. I reached Green belt with a black stripe, and it seems to be jumping stages. This has happened at least twice. There doesn’t seem to be any way of going backwards, or resetting. This morning I was about 20% through blue belt, and it was moving me on to new material which showed about 27%; I clicked on ‘Revisit’, and when it reloaded I was at 41%, and sentences had new material which hadn’t been introduced at all. I don’t think I can continue using the app as is.
There were a few hiccups this week, but the Tech Team have them resolved now. Are you still having an issue with it @Andrew.L ?
The Revisit/Skip functionality is currently being updated so very soon the Revisit will move you back one Introduction and Skip will move you forward one Introduction, and you’ll be able to control your progress a little more easily.
The revisit is working better now, but I’m still having trouble keeping my place in the course, or where I think I should be after the app seemed to jump me ahead two or three times. The revisit option only works temporarily; when I log in again it takes me back to the more advanced stage.
Thanks for letting us know. We’ll investigate this and see what’s happening.
@Andrew.L - there is a pending update coming through for the app which will fix this issue. Thanks for letting us know about it.
