I’ve tried and tried to use the new app but I just love the old SSIW learning style. I’m still learning Welsh and am enjoying making progress in Spanish but via the old way.
I’ve probably missed it somewhere in the forums but can somebody explain how the new app/method works in terms of progression?
I appreciate I can’t see the vocab but it doesn’t seem to follow the old style method in terms sentence structure and adding. I’ve played the Spanish via SSI app a couple of times and it seems a completely different learning model in terms of the content
I don’t have an example sorry but hope the above makes sense.
Essentially looking to find out how the new app language content differs from your traditional method.
Not a moan - happy paying customer, just feel progress is better on the old app
Finally - since how do I reset the new app to go back to beginning of the language if I did want to restart it. My only option is ‘revisit’ I don’t see a reset or restart.
That’s fine @geraintdysgu! It’s always best to learn the way that you enjoy most.
The Spanish in the new app is a different course, more similar to the other new languages. It’s currently undergoing some modifications to improve it as well. You can’t really compare it to the Spanish that you learn in the standard audio files.
Currently, there isn’t a way to go back and restart; however, the Tech Team are altering the way that ‘Revisit’ works, so once they’ve done that, you’ll be able to actually move backwards in the course, one previous Introduction at a time giving you the opportunity to move back to earlier material if you feel you need to.
Have jumped back onto the Spanish course recently so I can soak with my daughter who is doing Spanish GCSEs. I wrote a while ago about the challenges of trying to do the Spanish when it felt like I had missed some stuff and knew little of the phrases. The repeat stuff as I’ve gone into the new version though, admitted with a Keepnote that I used to write down items I was hearing meant that I went from accepting I knew limited amounts a few days ago to being basically up to speed and able to go through with barely any pauses now. It’s another tick box to the way SSi works - a quick recap, a few repetitions and suddenly all the former work suddenly comes alive again and you can move on and learn new stuff. Brilliant. Well done everyone.
Unsure if this is the right thread but here’s my question: is there any way to delete or start over a language in the new app? I had done a little bit of Spanish in Automagic a couple of years ago and wanted to start over in the new app. (I mostly do Welsh in the new app.) For some reason Spanish is showing up as nearly done with the Black Belt level instead of brand-new beginner. Is there a way to reset it? Thanks!
Hi Deborah, I’m getting frustrated with the app, in which I’m at blue-white belt (am also continuing with the challenges). A new phrase is introduced, but, having said it once, the app then continually returns to a handful of basic phrases, repeating them over and over again …I speak Spanish, with you now, now to speak, and various combinations thereof. I am not getting the chance to practise all the stuff I have learnt before. Is there any way to rectify this please?
