Spanish Journey

Hola
It’s probably been a year now since iv been learning. I’ll just check :check_mark:.Ok so April. I missed my Spanish birthday lol. So just over a year. Yet im still kinda struggling. Although I have read 1 book initially. Which was after about 6 months, and I struggled. Now im about to start book 3 of a trilogy. Well, if it arrives today. These books Whilst in Spainish or bilingual are very basic and repetitive. Nonetheless achievement/s.
To date, I have: Read:
Hola Lola.

  1. An Bailadora asesina 2) La Estrella de flamenco.
( various other stories and pieces online)
Found and attended a regular Spanish class.
Found a practice partner on Zoom to practice speaking and reading.
    Listen to SSIS lessons.
    Listen to various stories online.
Listen to various podcasts Cuéntame, 3 minute Spanish, Short stories in Spanish.
Spoke basic greetings whilst on holidays in Spain.
Have booked on with Spanish classes to go to Spain in September for a week. So whilst im still studying and struggling i know that there will be a culmination eventually of these activities. I read, i speak and i listen quite a bit. Writing Not so much yet. But i have been here before with Irish and Welsh hitting speed bumps and feeling less than inspired. But it most definitely passes. To learn a new language you need to be using it regularly. But when you are not in the position to initially. You have to try and recreate it as best as you possibly can. With books, podcasts, classes, music, television, social media, studying. Its like i said not easy when you don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But when you finally do it amazing. When you go to Ireland, Wales or Spain. And speak and actually see the fruits of your labour. Its an amazing experience. So never give up. Just keep doing something every day no matter how big or small. And you will be that Irish, Welsh or Spanish speaker etc for real

Muy bien, Alan! That’s the way! Variety is the spice of life, as they say, and varying your exposure to Spanish in that way will not only give you new sources of learning, but each one will reinforce the others as you hear the same words popping up again.

I’m sure you’re going to have an amazing time in Spain when you go on the class trip - as long as the other participants stick to Spanish, it can be a total immersion experience for you!
