I am a bit confused about the price of the Spanish course. All of the courses apart from Spanish seem to be freely accessible, however when I look at the Spanish one there appears to be a £250 fee associated with it. Furthermore, in the FAQs, it states “Based on the latest research in language learning, the course provides downloadable MP3 files for free.”.
We do have quite a bit of work to do to update all our old documentation - our original Spanish course, two or three years ago, was available for free, and we found it completely impossible to spread the word about it, even though the people who used it told us they found it extremely helpful.
So thank you for catching that old piece of writing in the FAQs, which I’ll have to change - and I’m sorry, but yes, the current price for the whole of Level 1 is £250.
However, if you send 3 friends a £100 voucher, they’ll get the first ten sessions without needing to pay, and you’ll get an extra five sessions for each friend who signs up - so you’ll be able to get at least 15 sessions without paying, and then (if you want to) the £10 a session price for the remaining 10 sessions of Level 1.
I’m sorry, I know it’s far from clear at the moment - we’ve got to figure out a better, clearer way of showing people how to get the sessions - but our developer is flat out right now on building an algorithm to make it possible for us to produce lots of new courses, and I don’t want to break his concentration on that right now! So we’re probably going to limp on with this less-than-perfect situation for the next couple of months…
One other thing we also want to do more with is scholarship access - so once you’ve used the first 15 sessions, if you’d really like more but genuinely can’t afford them, let me know and we can have a chat about it
Hola! I am loving the Spanish course and am at lesson 10! I speak to my Spanish boss a bit now much to her astonishment. I want to go on so how can I access the remainder of the level 1 lessons and is there a level 2? Diolch
Hi Eluned! Delighted to hear that you’re doing so well, and well done on using your Spanish with your boss, of all people!
Level 2 is being recorded, so with luck it won’t be all that long before we start to publish the first sessions. With Level 1 - you can get access to more sessions by sharing £100 voucher with friends - for each friend who signs up for their voucher, you’ll get access to £50 worth of sessions - ie another 5 - alternatively, you’ll need to pay for them.
If you click on session 11, you should see the range of options open for you - let me know if you have any hiccups with that
Great news that level 2 is coming! I shall definitely sign up! I shall see if I can send friends a sign up invitation again . Is that on the home page ?
If you click on a lesson you don’t have access to, you’ll be able to see that option - I think I’m right that also if you click on your name in the top right and then Access/Vouchers you’ll be able to see all the details
Hello! I am wondering what the price is if one is located in the US and how to pay in that case. I am familiar with the SaySomethinginWelsh materials from the old website, and knew those were free…I see that these are not and certainly understand that you need to be compensated…but since I’m not in the UK I’m not sure how to proceed or whether there is a way to get access to the materials from outside the UK. Thanks so much…I will wait to hear from you.
Although the prices are listed in £, if you go through the payment process your card will be debited in the usual way (possibly with a comparatively small currency transaction fee from your own card provider, I’d suspect) - so it should all be absolutely fine, and you should have access in exactly the same way as users from other parts of the world
And although the full course still costs £250 if you buy one session at a time, we’ve now put together some strong discounts for people who buy groups of lessons - you’ll be able to see what they are any time you click on a lesson to which you don’t currently have access (I’d put them in here, but I don’t want to have to remember to come and change the post if we change the price at some point in the future!).
Hope this helps, and do let me know if you have any trouble at all
