Soft mutations in "I've got something else"

I’m still trying to internalize the rules for soft mutation.

I’m pretty sure SSiW (South) presented:

I’ve got something else.

As

Mae gyda fi rhywbeth arall.

But by my understanding of SM, that should be “rywbeth”:

  • It’s after the “actor” of the sentence (fi)
  • (More technically, sorry) It’s to the right of the left edge of a participial phrase (gyda fi).

Did I mishear? Was this a speaker error? Or do I not understand all the details yet of SM?

If you’re just listening to the course, the difference between the pronunciation of rhywbeth and rywbeth in the south is very slight, so you’re unlikely to hear one. The difference is more marked in the north.

In writing it should be rywbeth in that situation though.
