Slightly off topic but welsh words/ ideas wanted!

Shwdi pawb?

I could do with the help of all you lovely SSIWers! I’m after a prefix, basically a kennel name, and am wondering if any of you have any ideas!
I have a few criteria, see if you can work around them and come up with something fantastic… And I’m sure il learn a few new words too!

I live by the sea on a farm with lots of oak trees so if the words could tie in with both/ either (however loosely) that would be fab!
I’d like a welsh word as I’m getting a rare welsh breed (there are a few-sadly- I’m hopefully getting a cardigan corgi… Different breed to the Pembroke!) anyway…
Ideally no Ll’s, ch’s or Dd’s as I will cringe whenever they are mispronounced! And ideally not a long word… It’s not much to ask is it! If you can think if a lovely word beginning with C I may just give you a virtual cwtch aswell!!

A few I’ve thought of to get started:smile: cwm, bryn, morlan, carreg…

Diolch yn fawr iawn!

S’mae Charlie?

derwen is an oak tree, so that may be appropriate, and its easy to say

Hwyl,

Stu

What about "ci-mor’ which I think is sea-dog. Beware … I may have made this up!

no virtual cwtch for me unfortunately, as my offering is “Derw Neifion” which translates as “Neptune’s Oaks”
(or of course you could use Derwen if you prefer the singular instead of the plural)

Since you asked for a prefix, I assume you have a name (call it X) or something else that you want to use.

Cewri X = X’s Giants
Coed X = X’s Wood

Cwm cwn. (just an idea).

Cheers J.P.

I love J.P.'s!

Another:
Calon X = X’s Heart

Thanks guys!!

Derwen is a famous horse stud just up the road so I’d feel a bit cheeky taking that, I LOVE llwynderw but that’s taken :frowning:

Cwmcwn is a good one though!!

@tahl yes, it will have a ‘call’ name but the prefix will be the first word in each (hopeful) puppy I breed’s name.

Calon or cwtch are more girls names rather than prefixes (cwtch corgis sounds brilliant mind…)

I like derwenfach but am worried how it would be pronounced! Fach as in thatch probably…

Coed is another one id thought of, plus maybe cnwc for a laugh… Id like cnwc y derw but it would be pronounced 'knook ee deroo" rather than knook er derw and I’d cry!!

Keep them coming if you can

mesen is an acorn and to get the c, how about Caemesen - acorn field.

and don’t forget cyfarth or coethi which both mean woof… dogs and oak trees both have bark!

There used to be a famous pony stud (may still be?) called Coed Coch. They seemed to manage the ‘ch’ correctly on TV and at horse shows, but ‘coed’ came out in all sorts of varients. I go with Cwmcwn!! Surely it would have to be pronounced correctly, the only way you could get it wrong is to say, English usage: “come” and rhyme cwn with that!! A person I knew on Gower called his black dog Cidi, which I loved!! Shame corgis don’t come in black, or you could have Cwmcwn Cidi!!
