how to use slack???
I’ve managed to get an account and logged on to slack. I’ve introduced mysefl but after that its rather bewildering. Now absolutely no idea what to do. Reading various notes I’m supposed to search for hangouts. Doesnt seem to be any channel called hangouts. I’ve looked at “online now” Again whats that all about with just a few entries going back weeks.
Could someone simply spell out exactly how to get something useful from Slack. And please can the instructions be up to date.
Just a simple chat would be a great start.how to use slack
The WSP Slack consists of numerous channels, serving different purposes. All channels have a name that is preceded by a “#”, for example #general-chat or #online-now
The voice chats itself usually happen on other platforms, such as Zoom, Skype or Google Hangouts (especially group chats), but one-on-one chats can be initiated on Slack itself.
Check out “group-chats” to see what’s going on, and if you are looking for a one-on-one, you can voice your interest in “online-now”
There is a whole list of specialised channels, which you can access on the left-hand side of the main workspace window by clicking “Browse channels”. For example, there is a channel called “grammar-questions”, a channel dedicated to asking and answering grammar questions. Just click on the name of a channel to get a short description of it, and if you like, you can then join the channel.
I posted a thread very similar to yours a good while back. I think I called it ‘Fear of Slack’
Occasionally I go and look at Slack but it remains a mystery for the most part. On three occasions I found other people there and started talking to them. How I found them I’m not sure.
My daughter uses it in her business but I glaze over when she tells me how easy it is and how to do it.
Anyway… The point of my reply is to invite you to meet with me sometime convenient on Sunday 14thMarch. Quite what will happen I don’t know, but I’m game if you are. Let me know a good time and I’ll log in at that time.
