Hi,
This may show my shocking ignorance, but…
If sioc is masculine, why is trydanol soft mutated in the phrase sioc drydanol even in the dictionary phrase (i.e. independent of any other influences)?
I’m missing something obvious, I think.
Diolch yn fawr!
As far as I know, sioc is a noun that can be masculine or feminine depending on context, so in the context of electric shock, it’s feminine.

Thanks, Siaron!
The Gweiadur has it as masculine only, which is what confused me. But I’ve just checked and the Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru has it as both. I should have thought of that before posting…
Diolch eto!
