It is very common through all dialects not to pronounce an “f” at the end of words, but it is usually kept in writing (or at least hinted at with the apostrophe – A’ i)
That’s what I’d thought, but the thread made it sound as though af i was in common use in the South in speech – as someone else said, if I’d heard it, I’d have assumed that a fi was meant, so I was trying to prepare myself for venturing south of Wrecsam…

It’s not set in stone, some people pronounce it, some don’t, and some say a finnau if they mean and me to forestall confusion. Sometimes different things are pronounced the same (like the notorious triplet “there, their and they’re” in English) but context is usually king.
