@tess Now this is a good idea!
Mmmā¦ reviving an old thread:
Can anyone recommend anything similar to SSiW for learning Italian (with English as the interface language)? I donāt mean on-line courses such as Duolingo (which I think is very good), but something, well, SSiW-ish.
@aran it seems that many of us would love to have a SSiI!
Grazie fawr for any suggestionā¦
Sshhhhā¦ something starting in the very near futureā¦
ā¦Presumably with Bwt Camp in Portmeirion ?
Makes sense, although Iād sponsor real Italy!
Any further progress re SSIEideleg?
Been snowed under with Iaith ar Daith stuff, but will be having some chats next week, I hope

Duolingo is terrible, frankly. Not good at all. A gimmick at best. Youāll achieve more by reading, listening and speaking a language regularly than by wasting your time with gimmicky apps like Duolingo.
Iām italian, and a former italian teacher for foreign business people.
I can help you if you need.
Hi
Have a look at Language Transfer, which has an introduction to Italian, There are some similarities to Say Something In, though also some significant differences. I have used it for Turkish and Arabic and it is brilliant, particularly given that it is completely free!
Are you still available?
Aran, bellach dyn niān byw yn Nhrffynnon yn hytrach naār Wyddgrug, oes newyddion am y cwrs Eidaleg?

Yeah, why not?
Is Italian still in the pipeline?
It is indeed planned. The actual date of release is still unknown, but read through the thread entitled āBig news - exciting times - finally, finally weāre moving on to other languagesā in the General / Questions section of the forum.
Basically, itās fiddly and different problems keep delaying the launch, but French will hopefully be available, in a new Say Something inā¦ app, very soon. And, provided nothing goes catastrophically wrong once the app is launched, Spanish, Italian, and a few other languages should join French over the following weeks.
Once the SSi team has truly ironed out the bugs, they expect/hope to add a whole lot more languages over the next year.
You can read through the various updates that have said āNext week, we think!ā and, āWell, something went wrong, so not this week after all, butā¦ā and judge for yourself how optimistic you want to be about an August release.
We are all hoping and cheering for the team to get it sorted. But the team clearly cares very much about producing something of high quality, and itās no easy job. So weāre all trying to be patient and supportive, despite the temptation to nag like small children - is it nearly ready yet?! - every few days.
It does feel closer now, which is exciting!

SSiItalian is now in Beta from the official app.
I know! And several more languages in alpha too!
Just wondering ( and hoping) that ssiw will introduce a materials to teach Italian in the future?
I can tell for sure that steps forward have been made in this direction.
Iām confident that at some point (hopefully not too far away in time) it will be available!
