Problems with logging into old App

I’ve looked at previous posts, but can’t see exactly the same problem. I’m logged in on here, on my laptop, with no problem.

On my iphone, I have installed the “new” Say Something In … app (red logo) and can get onto Automagic, no problems. However, I also want to use the old Say Something in Welsh app (green logo with red dragon) but although I can look at the forum I cannot log in and cannot access the lessons - it says I must subscribe. But I am subscribed as part of my Dysgu Cymraeg Sylvaen course. I have tried logging out and in, and even tried deleting the app then re-installing it - but it still won’t accept my password. It won’t let me reset my password and tells me “unable to send request. Please visit www.saysomethingin.com” - Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I can’t figure out what! Help would be much appreciated.

I don’t know the old app - my phone is a 2018 model and flatly refused to download something so outdated, which I thought a little precious but there we are. From context, I think the old app is pretty much abandoned. Maybe someone can help you, but I suspect it will just become less and less compatible with every update to your device’s system.
However! You can access everything that was in the old app through the new one. It’s just a matter of knowing where to look. If you are already set up with learning Welsh on the new app, go to Account > My Resources and scroll down through the options. The Challenges, Old Courses, Advanced Content etcetera are all linked there.
If you’re really really attached to the old app’s interface, wait around here and cross your fingers, but if it was just the content you wanted, I hope this helps.

The old apps have been superceded by the latest one which acts as a portal to all of our learning material, so you can use it to get to everything the old apps gave you.

If you go to Account, then My Resources, you can find the Classic Challenges if those are what you’re after. They are all downloadable so you can save them to your phone and access them easily, just as you did with the old app.

The old app works for me still on the iPhone (I use it every day) but I have a full subscription, not the Dysgu Cymraeg one, so perhaps that’s the difference.

Unfortunately, while you can use the new app to get to the Old and New Courses, you’ll be taken to the web site, and you’ll lose the ability to use the app ‘hands-free’ through headphones – it only responds to pause/start, not rewind/skip a few seconds, and it won’t automatically continue to the next challenge.

If you don’t use either of these features, then that’s fine, of course, but as I use SSIW almost exclusively while walking the dog, both are pretty much essential for me. I wouldn’t have been able to finish all the levels on the Old and New Courses without them.

Downloading the MP3s doesn’t help unless you can find an MP3 app which allows you to rewind/skip forward by seconds – which Apple Music doesn’t, AFAIK.

Hopefully SSIW will reconsider and reinstate your abilty to access through the old app – it’s a much better experience for the Old and New Courses.

I believe the old iOS app is still working, but after Android did an update to the operating system, it caused issues for the Android app. If you already have it installed on an old Android phone, it keeps working, but it doesn’t install on new phones, and there are no plans to upgrade it as all the focus is on developing the new app to do everything.

The issues with the ‘hands-free’ access not working have been passed to the Tech Team.
