Practice exercises

I’ve been playing around with WordWall to create practice quizzes (well, just the one right now), and I’d love to know what people think, not just about the content but also the website and how well it works for you.

Please take a look and let me know what you think!

Cool! I deliberately got one wrong to see whether it would accept fe instead of fo. It didn’t.
Digon teg. It did look weird, sticking a fe into a sentence with Gog vocab.
Gweiadur’s conjugation table for medru doesn’t have medru fo, it has medriff/medrith ef. I’m guessing medru fo is more colloquial?
The interface works and is a useful way to practise. Please make more!

Thanks, Verity.

So, I have generally leant heavily on Gareth King’s grammar books, and I was sure that medru fo came from there, but looking, he has medr o, and now I’m worried I’ve made an error! I learnt medru fo at least a decade ago, but now I’m not sure where from as I have a very wide selection of books, most of which are contradictory.

I definitely don’t use medriff/medrith ef, though, and do not recall seeing that in any of my grammar books.

If someone more fluent than me can confirm if medru fo is just a different dialect, or if it’s an error, that’d be fab. Changing the quiz and my website is easy, but my brain might be a smidge harder.

Had a bit of a look on Google, and I think… this might be a 20 years old typo.

Fun - but because I’m learning using South rules, a bit hit-and-miss…

Yes, it is one of what I hope will be several options for both north and south. But it just takes quite a while to do the background work.

I’m sure it does! Very impressive!

I tried it, even though I have never used nor studied “medru”.

I could/can understand it when I come across it, but it was obvious I have no idea of how conjugation and treigladau work, given my very poor performance with my first attempt.
I think it’s a great way to practise it, well done!

By the way, I enjoy Wordwall. I never ventured in creating one myself, but there’s quite a few available on line for the Welsh language - have you tried any of those?

I’ve looked at a few of the others there, yes, but I’m keen to make my own because that’s part of my learning process.

Oh, of course I believe it’s even better if you’re keen to do your own.
I’m just too lazy to do that.

But I’m curious, my understanding was that you need a (paid?) subscription in order to create more than 2 or 3 of them. Is it correct?

Yes, you get three on the free plan. I’ll do another couple, different types of exercise, and then see if it’s worth paying.

I already have word search software, so I might do a few more of those, but I find they are less useful for grammar.
