Call me greedy, but why can’t the amazing SSiW team create more challenge levels in the app?
I’ve been learning for over a year now and have completed all the Old Course (including vocab units) and all of the New Course a couple pot times now.
I’m not perfect, of course, but I can do most of all of that reasonably accurately. Going through the challenges/levels multiple times has and continues to help me to get better with each run-through, but I know I would really benefit from more material in the same format, with more vocabulary and different opportunities/sentences with which to practise and improve what I can already do.
I know there is AutoMagic, and I do use that from time to time, but personally I think the Levels in the app are more effective.
Question
Apologies as I know this has been addressed before, but:
Does anyone know of any other resources in any way similar to the SSiW platform where I might be able to access further learning and development in solo study? I still try to chat with my SSiW forum talking partner as often as we can, and I know that getting out there and talking Welsh with others is the best way to get better, but I live in the Black Mountains and there don’t seem to be a lot of Welsh speakers here!
Anyway, any advice as to how I really could find new material/resources would be massively welcomed.
Seems like now might be a good time for you to start reading books, watching S4C, listening to podcasts and the like! Maybe also join some online courses.
Besides the very helpful tips you’ve already received…have you tried the SSiW Advanced content?
It is a different format, but it really helps improving understanding especially (that can be quite challenging!), practising different accents and learning new expressions, because most of them have full transcriptions or at least a list of keywords.
Great suggestions here. Also, for S4C see www.s4c.cymru/learnwelsh (or www.s4c.cymru/dysgucymraeg to see the learner-friendly Welsh version!). You can sign up there for my monthly newsletter
