In theory, I don’t see why not, though it sounds a bit weird. If I were going to say “You wouldn’t have liked to be there”, which I assume is the translation, I would tend to say the longer version “Fyddet ti ddim wedi hoffi bod yna”
Thanks Deborah. Yes, it does sound rather weird, which is why I wondered. The exercise I am doing asks for the translation using the short form conditional though, otherwise I would have used the option you gave.
Yes, it does work. Hoffet it ddim bod wedi… is You would not have liked to…, so Hoffet ti ddim bod wedi bod yna seems absolutely fine to me.
