Good move. I hope to be there.
Sue
And I walked all the way home. I didnât think I could do that.
Sue
Waw! Da iawn ti, Sue!
Helo bawb - donât think anyone will be keen to meet up on Christmas Eve, so this weekâs meetup on Friday will be the last before Christmas, and itâll again be in the open air outside the Castle Quarterâs Slug & Lettuce, so:
- 12:00 Tuesday 14th December / dydd Mawrth 14eg Rhagfyr (via Zoom - let me know if youâd like to join us but donât yet have the login details)
- 12:00 Friday 17th December / dydd Gwener 17eg Rhagfyr ( Outside Slug & Lettuce, Castle Quarter)
Hwyl a chadwân saff
John
Thatâs fantastic! Such a long way !!!
Helo bawb - itâll be just the usual Zoom meetup on Tuesday this week, but itâs possible there might one also on the Tuesday after Christmas, so do keep an eye on this thread :
- 12:00 Tuesday 21st December / dydd Mawrth 21ain Rhagfyr (via Zoom - let me know if you need the login details)
Hwyl, cadwân saff, a Nadolig Llawen!
John
Nadolig llawen pawb! Iâm sorry I canât make zoom today however post Christmas plans may be changing in which case I might make Tuesday 28 December. Bethan.
Nadolig llawen Bethan a phawb!
Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i Bawb!
Helo new learners! If youâre in the Oxford area or beyond but a bit hesitant about deciding whether to join us, do get in touch with any questions or concerns you may have (if you prefer, via a PM, i.e. personal message) and hopefully weâll be able to set your mind at rest.
Hwyl a chadwân saff!
John
Helo bawb - for this first week in 2022, weâll stick to the same pattern of meetups, BUT this isnât set in stone, so if lunchtime or Tuesday/Friday meetups arenât possible for you, do get in touch as we want to make it possible for as many as we can to join in :
- 12:00 Tuesday 4th January / dydd Mawrth 4ydd Ionawr (via Zoom - let me know if youâd like to join us but donât yet have the login details)
- 12:00 Friday 7th January / dydd Gwener 7ed Ionawr ( Outside Slug & Lettuce , Castle Quarter - see map)
As with days/times, while the Castle Quarterâs Slug & Lettuce itself might be âset in stoneâ (sorry! ) our choice of meetup location isnât so, again, do get in touch if you have any alternative suggestions for places to meet up in the open air until the Covid situation improves sufficiently for people to feel comfortable meeting up again in a pub/cafe.

John
PS See the Oxford walks thread if youâd like to join us for a walk+sgwrs
Helo bawb - noisy building work across the road from the S&L prompts a change of venue this week to outside the Head of the River pub by Folly Bridge (see map):
- 12:00 Tuesday 11th January / dydd Mawrth 11eg Ionawr (via Zoom - let me know if youâd like to join us but donât yet have the login details)
- 12:00 Friday 14th January / dydd Gwener 14eg Ionawr ( NB Change to outside Head of the River pub - see map)
As always, all welcome! And do get in touch if you have any questions.

Advance notice for St Davidâs Day of the Welsh-language choral evensong service at Jesus College. This will take place at 5.45 p.m. on Tuesday 1 March, hopefully in person and also livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/jesuschapeloxford (I think you need a Facebook account for this).
Itâs also Shrove Tuesday that day, so Iâm afraid I will be at home on pancake duty!
Diolch, Owen!
Helo bawb - Fridayâs change of venue to outside the Head of the River pub by Folly Bridge worked very well and there was little disturbance from the traffic crossing the bridge. Weâll be there again this Friday, outside but probably under cover at the riverside tables - some of these are slightly hidden by a low wall across the patio, so if you donât spot us at once donât forget to check these out.
- 12:00 Tuesday 18th January / dydd Mawrth 18eg Ionawr (via Zoom - let me know if youâd like to join us but donât yet have the login details)
- 12:00 Friday 21st January / dydd Gwener 21ain Ionawr ( NB Outside Head of the River at riverside tables - see map above)

Helo bawb - unfortunately it seems that the outside tables at the Head of the River are no longer under cover and now exposed to the elements so weâll need to decide on another venue for this Fridayâs face-to-face meetupâŠ
- 12:00 Tuesday 25th January / dydd Mawrth 25ain Ionawr - dydd Santes Dwynwen (via Zoom - let me know if youâd like to join us but donât yet have the login details)
- 12:00 Friday 28th January / dydd Gwener 28ain Ionawr (venue to be confirmed)

Weâve now decided to head back to outside the Castle Quarterâs Slug & Lettuce for this Fridayâs meetup
Rain is not forecast at the moment, and with luck they will not have re-started any work with drills opposite S&L. Itâs a shame about the Head of the River, but I think that it would be very chilly without their tents to break the wind.
One day, when we are confident to meet indoors, perhaps we could re-sample various pubs/cafes.
Sue
Itâll soon be time to celebrate St Davidâs Day/Dydd GĆ”yl Dewi, so maybe we should start thinking about arranging a meal or somethign to do just that. The day itself is Tues March 1st but the following weekend might be more convenient for most people so, if youâre interested, hereâs the DĆ”dl-Dewi poll for you to complete to help choose the day that works best for the most people: https://doodle.com/poll/2qc3tbqrrr3ndpfa
Also, in case you havenât spotted it on the Oxford Walks thread, we have two walks+sgwrs for the end of the month, in both cases meeting up at 12:00 (although we could adjust the time if it makes it easier for people to join us):
- Sun 30th Jan: weâll be going to BBOWTâs Sydlings Copse Nature Reserve, meeting up just inside the zebra crossing entrance to Bury Knowle Park, Headington (may be muddy in places)
- Mon 31st Jan: weâll be going to Hinksey Heights Nature Trail meeting up at the far end of the car park in Hinksey Park, off Abingdon Road.
Let me know if youâre planning to join one of these
Hwyl
John
I have put in 4 March as my only possible day, but I could also do 28 Feb.
I might manage Zoom on 1 March between visits to the village hall, but no time to go elsewhere
